Shep sent a postcard to Lois Nettleton who was the "Listener" on his WOR show circa 1957 and ultimately became his wife in 1960. The post card reads "Monday Mar 22 11:45A. In Berchtesgaden - in the heart of the alps - Ein gross tourister Americanista. Brilliant sun - avalanches - snow. Be in Munich this aft. No plans set for next week. Already it seems though I've been here for months. Hope you're working - miss you of course, Love J. "
