Shep sent a letter to Lois Nettleton who was the "Listener" on his WOR show circa 1957 and ultimately became his wife in 1960.
In part, the letter read:
London is a rather dull town after Zurich - many things to see, but frankly I have found that I care little for the British. They are loaded with inhibitions and biases, all of which makes them by far the dullest crowd I've met yet. A trip like this really is an education in the peoples of the world. I've learned so much.
Hope to catch "Under Milkwood" tomorrow night. God I'm lonely for you! I love you more than ever!
