A playbill for "A Banquet for the Moon" referred to "Pretty Bubbles in the Air"in the playbill. At the end of the October 1960 short story "Old Man Oshenschlager" in Metronome the editor adds: "Old Man Oshenschlager" is from Shepherd's forthcoming book, "Bubbles in the Air" In the Jan 8, 1962 article "Night Person" publlished in the Toronto Daily Star, in the last paragraph it says: "His first novel, to be published in the spring, is titled "Pretty Bubbles in the Air." It deals, naturally enough, with the ways in which people are persuaded to give up their dreams in exchange for nothing much."
