Jean Shepherd, witty radio personality and satirist, will speak in the Cranford High School auditorium Thursday evening April 13, in the John F. Kennedy Memorial Series in place of Harry Golden, it was announced this week by Joel Geller, who has booked the talent for the series.
Mr. Golden, who was scheduled to appear April 8, cancelled his appearance here on advice of his physician. He underwent surgery late last fall and complications developed. In a letter this week, to Mr. Geller, Mr. Golden expressed his sorrow at not being able to keep his date here.
Mr. Shepherd is author of the recently published book, "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash." He also has written several screen plays, a forthcoming- Broadway Play and has contributed articles to many magazines. 'His anthology, "The America of George Ade," published in 1962 was widely acclaimed by critics.
The John F. Kennedy Memorial Series has been offered here under the joint auspices of the Cranford Education Association and the Parent Teacher Organization for benefit of their scholarship fund. Tickets s for the Jean Shepherd program may be obtained from George White at the Hillside Avenue Junior High School.
