Q. How would you describe what you do on the radio? A. Well, I try to say - you know, it would be very easy to make a profound statement, a real high-sounding statement: "I try to plumb the inner resources of my soul and put it into a malleable form so that I can communicate with the public" - but I really don't know. I can only say that I think a person who listens to what I do would be in a better position to say than I am. It would be easy for me to say: "Well, on one hand I try to amuse people, and on the other hand I try to say things which I believe to be true" - but this is true of anybody who writes." . . .
