Shep's old man won a prize on a 'punch board' at the bowling alley. He punches the name "Marie" - Shep says he always punched the name Marie. No one kneww what was so special about that name to the old man. (Note - In the movie "Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss, the old man always rented the cabin named Marie.)
He opens the box and it is an "8 Ball" lighter. He takes it home, fills it up and tries it. NOTHING! After trying to get it working, he pulls the wick up and then it literally explodes! Mrs Bruner sees this through the window and calls the fire department
