It appears that he was on WKRC with a show for only a short period. He had previously worked at WCKY as an announcer and may have started here as the same, getting a show for a brief period. On July 1st he returned to WSAI.

By Monday, November 1, 1948, within 2 weeks of having left 50,000 watt WCKY in Cincinnati, Shep joined the announcing staff of WKRC, at the very bottom of the radio dial on 550 kc. and at one-tenth the power (5000 watts, daytime; 1000 watts, evening) of WCKY. WKRC broadcast from the Hotel Alms, located at the northwest corner of Victory Parkway and East McMillan Street in Cincinnati.

Four months later, on Monday, February 28, 1949, Shep debuted a 30-minute, late-night record show on WKRC that aired weekdays at 11:30 pm. It would not last long, however. According to the local radio listings in Cincinnati, Shep's last show at WKRC was Wednesday evening, March 9. The following day, Don Reid took Shep's place in his 11:30 pm time slot, and by mid-April Wayne Gregg replaced Reid (April 13), only soon to be replaced by Ted Weems (April 27). By then, it is believed Shep may have gone to Chicago for a few months, according to published reports. But on July 1, 1949, he returned to the air at WSAI with another DJ show.
