FOR SALE OR TRADE

Last Update:  April 06, 2008

There are many sources to buy or trade Jean Shepherd shows, movies, books and misc. items. Below are a list of some of them. I will add more as I become aware of them.

Jean Shepherd WOR Shows and other Audio

A lot of Shep fans used to record shows and over the years many of these have surfaced and are becoming available. Unfortunately the quality is not the best in quite a few cases, but it's still Shep!

There are two sources for many of the shows that I know of. Schmidco has, over the years, obtained the original reel to reel copies of tapes from fans and painstakingly converted them to cassette tape preserving as much quality as possible. In some cases the "original studio masters" have been obtained and used, which sound as good as the day they were broadcast. Another source which has recently come to be is "The Jean Shepherd Project" consisting of a group of collectors trading for shows and offering them in MP3 format on CDs. While the quality of MP3 is not as good as cassettes or CDs, and many may already be 3rd or 4th generation copies, they are a good source for the not so fussy listener.

Schmidco Catalog

SCHMIDCO
Max Schmid has a vast collection of WOR and Limelight shows available for sale. He also has many misc. radio appearances, and videos. Many of these come from studio masters. A great place to start collecting.

The Jean Shepherd Project

The Jean Shepherd Project is a group of Shep collectors who have pooled their smaller collections to make a bigger one. They currently offer no frills CD-Rs (no jewel cases, no fancy labels) of mp3's and come as a complete set.

Brian has a tape available of the following:

Jean Shepherd at The Lake County Public Library Summer 1984 - 2hrs. This tape features many of his stories about growing up as a kid and has a great Q&A period after the show, where Shep does/does not answer many questions.
Jean Shepherd interview on NW Indiana public access Summer 1995 - 25 minutes. (This was Shep's last visit to NW Indiana)
