Photographer

Fred W. McDarrah is a well known photographer who for many years did work for the Village Voice. One of his photos of Shep in the studio, taken in 1966, was used for a poster which became famous throughout the Shep community. Poster: This photo was taken on November 30, 1966 at the WOR studio for a Village Voice article. It was later used for a 30 inch by 42 inch "Personality Poster". McDarrah took many shots that day from various angles, this one being considered the best. The copyright notice reads "c 1967 by FRED W. MCDARRAH". It also is labeled along the edge with the title "160-Jean Shepherd" and bears the name of the publisher "Personality Posters, Inc, 74 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10011".
