Show Description |
If you liked this summer's TV series called Jean Shepherd's America, of the 1983 movie "A Christmas Story", then you'll want to attend a dinner show coming up Oct. 4 at the Holiday Inn North at the Pyramids. WFYI Channel 20 is sponsoring the appearance of Jean Shepherd, with station subscribers getting first crack at the reservations.
Shepherd - known as the Mark twain of the Midwest - will recreate verbal memories of his "Hohman, Ind." And other locations "familiar to everyone who has ever eaten meatloaf, played sandlot baseball or longed for the freckled girl next door," as he shares his brand of gentle satire in a two-hour show.
Dinner plans are under the guidance of the hotel's Larry Surissi. Elaine Lockwood of Danes Bookstore in the Fashion Mall will have the author's novels on hand for purchase and autographing. Graphic artist Bruce Neckler is doing a commemorative poster in cooperation with Alexander Standard Printing.
Tickets are $22.50 and include dinner, a complimentary cocktail and the show. Seating is limited. For information call WFYI, 636-2020. |
