Shep was both Host and Guest

In addition to the four movies which were made for the PBS, Shep appeared on TV quite often as host of his own show or as a guest.
 

Jean Shepherd TV Shows
1953-54 ? "Rear Bumper" WLW-TV Cincinnati
(In a 1963 interview with Long John Nebel Shep claimed to have film of some of these.)
1955 The Tonight Show - Almost! It was television that first brought Shep to New York. Read this story on Bob Kaye's Jean Shepherd Site.
1956 Hammond Times - Shepherd Appeals to 'Scholars'
There is no evidence that this TV show ever became a reality.
Early 1960's "The Dissenters" A Philadelphia based Sunday morning TV show on which Shep interviewed a person in the studio who held a belief in conflict with the mainstream. According to "Who's Who" - Jan 1961 this was on 5 nights a week for two years.
