The 1966 WOR shows were recorded from AM, with all the associated hums, whistles and AM noises - just as you would have heard them yourself on the radio.  They are complete with all commercials, intros and news, as much as was recorded originally by the home taper - I have cut nothing.
The 1976 shows are taken directly from the broadcast masters, in amazing fidelity.  This series was produced from WOR master tapes by Shep himself, with commercials cut and the program trimmed to run 30".

Shepherd mentioned on his radio show that this was the first documentary series to use portable video recorders.  Shep explores interesting locales and weaves magical tales of the American Dream.

These are from the second series in 1985 (nobody had a VCR in 1967 when the first series aired), although a few were produced for the first run and rebroadcast  intact or combined into new shows.
