"I last saw Jean Shepherd at the NJEA teachers convention in Atlantic City a few year's ago He was terrific, but after the show I was sad to see him in poor health." "I think it was Nov. of 96 or 97- I will
have to check on the year. He was an invited speaker - of course paid
his customary fee. He spoke of education in his sardonic way and related
stories of mostly middle school experiences, real or imagined--but
humorous as always .Leigh was with him and she did not look well, either
