Notes:
(From Gene Bergmann) |
Nowhere does
it give author credit. There is a one page unsigned "How to use this
guide." Followed by a three page "Preface," with three peoples' names
at bottom, Jane Wagner, Gilman Park, and Jack Rennert. There is then
a half page of acknowledgments about the book designer, and people who
worked on specific parts of the book. This is followed by Shep's
intro. Then a nineteen and a half page index. Then a seven page
"Citywide Services Directory."
The rest of the book is a "Neighborhood Directory" (page 46 to 160)
Each section of the city starts with a full page map with that section
highlighted. Each section then has an unsigned introduction of
between two and six pages --most about three pages. The writing style
is very informal and chatty, as though talking to you as a friend.
One can only assume that the three listed people are the "authors,"
(overall responsibility, and that they are the writers of the
neighborhood intros) and the other people in the acknowledgment
section did the legwork research, and probably wrote drafts of the
intros.
