Jerry Seinfeld

aka: Jerry Seinfeld

Actor, Comedian

On the Season Six DVDs of Seinfeld, during the commentary of the episode titled "The Gymnast", during a scene in which Lois Nettleton appears Jerry says: "She was married to Jean Shepherd. He's the guy who invented talk radio and really formed my entire comedic sensibility. Yes. I learned how to do comedy from Jean Shepherd." ------------------------------------------------------------------------- In 2005 Jerry's wife had a baby boy and they named him Shepherd Seinfeld. It is strongly believed that they named him in honor of Jean Shepherd, but it has yet to be confirmed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- On January 23, 2012, Seinfeld appeared at The Paley Center for Media with Bill Carter of the NY Times and discussed the influence Jean Shepherd had on his career and how Shepherd was a pioneer in radio. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- In a December 20, 2012 N.Y. Times article by Jonah Weiner, Jerry was influenced by Shep. "His love of comedy matured when he heard Jean Shepherd's epic, askew radio monologues- Seinfeld adored Shepherd's knack for 'taking something small and making it big' "
